Saw Doctors return to Bethlehem...finally.

Regular readers may remember this picture, if not then check the archives October 2006 (Friday the 13th no less). At that time it had been the only gig that the Saw Doctors had failed to show for after a really freak snowstorm in what usually is tepid temperatures in October. I'd like to think that my munerous e-mails to Amanda Mc Grath at the Saw Doctors office has influenced the band to come back once more. Whatever the reason they are going to be the main event on Sunday at what is called "The Winter Classic". A kind of Celtic Fest where there will be music food and traditional events all day long. Its going to be a two day affair but for us the last act will be the best. The "Docs" are going to close the event with a gig at 7.30pm.

The Winter Classic.

Another season, another photo competition.

When you are married you tend to take on some aspects of your spouses's hobbie(s). So with this in mind Jill and I set out to win the Valentine's photo competition. Jill had entered for the christmas competition and she came around 9th place. This time around we combined together in principal to win this thing. As it turned out while I was at work Jill became inspired and took one of the above pictures, whilst I had an idea myself, also one of the pictures here. In the final judging by Jill's Cabbage Patch peers our efforts combined netted us a fourth place, a third place and yes first place. All of this and there were over 50 entries. So one of the pictures above won the competition whilst the other one came third, one of them I took and one of them Jill took.

Can you guess who took which picture?...and which one came third and came first?.

Blog owner approval.

Ah come on now, you're having a joke. I just went to Uiscebots blog to leave a message of support on one of the posts in which it announces that the work may be published in a different -out of the box - kind of way. I type out a nice message of support and take care of my username and password to ensure the message is posted.
It is then that I realise my message is going to be censored by "the owner"....sure what could I say that would need such censorship? Perhaps some people would leave some unsavoury and mindless comments but I wouldnt think of it. The beauty of these Blogs is that there can be open avenue's of speech and writing exchanging comments and ideas. Come on "the owner" what do ya think?.

More cold and snow and freezing rain.

Perhaps 10 days ago we had a snow system that dumped about 2-3 inches of snow, soft fluffy stuff and very light. Coming back home from work one night was very tricky. Just after I took this picture about five minutes from the house the traffic lights turned green and I had some real trouble getting any traction in the slushy fluffy snow. I did eventually get moving. It was then when I was really only a matter of seconds away from the house that while slowing for a caution stop sign coming to a hill of about 45 degrees incline. I knew I would need some real momentum to make it but I lost traction and there was no where to go. I was stationary and reving hard. Some teenagers came to try and push me but soon all I was doing was burning rubber. Here I was with now real bald tires and so close to home. I thought I would have to abandon car and walk home. With all entries to the road to the house having some kind of incline I decided to get to the one with the smallest incline, however this meant a 15 minute drive to drive the level gradient roads and with bald tires. I finally had to come all the way around again to enter the grounds of the school and bus depot to finally get home. It had been such an ordeal and I was so glad to get back to the warmth of a house and rest easy.
